A heartwarming tale March 7th, 2008 by Julie Freeman Many of us worry about the fact that a lot of people cannot write very well. I have worried about this for a long time, which is why I spent 8 years teaching seniors in high school how to write essays. I left the classroom, but the signs of poor writing and bad grammar abound: Misuse of “it’s.” Signs that say, “Express Lane–15 items or less.” And now there’s texting, which has further deteriorated the quality of writing, or so it seems. So,

Jump to the full entry & travel map New Orleans, Louisiana, United States As we left before we had quite the adventure in the Bayou. We went to Airboat Adventures and took a 2 hour Airboat tour throughout the Bayou of Louisiana. As we parked the car some guy came up to us and told us to get our tickets and grab some beer in the county store….very interesting because he had quite the resemblance to Quasimodo, but what can you expect when you get down to the Bayou. Our tour guide

The library at Ephesus was probably the highlight of my walk down the marble streets through the ruins of this ancient Roman city. It was one of the largest libraries of the ancient world, designed by the Roman architect Vitruoya, containing between 12,000 and 15,000 scrolls. Ephesus was a wealthy city with the large library seen above, a large amphitheater, and much ornate statuary. There is a special exhibit (additional admission charge, but worth it) of excavated and partially restored

Do you care to guess who wrote this: Since leaving office I’ve written about public policy from a new perspective: outside looking in. I’ve come to realize that protecting freedom of choice in our everyday lives is essential to maintaining a healthy civil society. Why do we think we are helping adult consumers by taking away their options? We don’t take away cars because we don’t like some people speeding. We allow state lotteries despite knowing some people are betting their grocery money.

Jump to the full entry & travel map El Calafate, Argentina This is just a short entry for the purpose of completeness. If we had visited the Glacier we would have more to write about. We arrived in El Calafate after a rather boring journey from Puerto Natales. I don´t want to sound negative but there is really nothing to see between the two town but nothingness. No hills, no trees just flat plains of nothing. El Calafate is tourist town positioned near Perito Merino Glacier and some exc

[IMG Colon Hotel in front of Barcelona Cathedral [enlarge]] To finish this hotel series for now, I leave you with a view of Colon Hotel right in front of Barcelona Cathedral in Barri Gotic. I know the picture is no big deal but if you look it up on a Barcelona map you’ll find out how well located this renown hotel is. With time Barcelona Photoblog pretends to be a little helpful guide to visitors so the more information the better. I have often wondered why so many travel guides offer those tin
